"Against Babylon" - an exhibition about resistance to external and internal pressure restrictions

Babylon in European culture became a symbol of power, control and loss of voice. Exactly this image formed the basis of "Against Babylon" - an exhibition about resistance to external and internal pressure restrictions

The project of Daria Gerasimova @gerasimova.dariia and

Yevgena Danylenko @danylenko_now was created in cooperation with PrideHab and the cultural and social center

of the DRUK center.

The exhibition talks about the experience of visibility and

self-censorship, freedom and fear, collective and

personal resistance. This year's focus is not only on the presence of queer people in society, but also on ways to withstand pressure.

The project consists of two parts:

"Inner Babylon"

about internal conflicts, self-limitation, internal homophobia and struggle with oneself.

Opening: May 30 at 4:00 p.m. at PrideHub (13 Kulykivskyi Uzviz)

"External Babylon"

about political and social pressure, visibility in public space and the experience of fighting for the right to exist openly.

Opening: June 7 at 5:00 p.m. at the DRUK Center

(Honcharivsky Boulevard, 10/2)

The exhibition will last from May 30 to July 5.

The closing of the exhibition will take place on July 4-5 at DRUK within the framework of the festival. We are also preparing an additional program and activities - we will talk about them a little later.
